On a hot afternoon you just want a room that feels liveable again. A fixed air conditioner does that quickly, and with the heating mode you can top up that same room in winter. No complicated story, just comfort where you feel it.

Air conditioning or heat pump: what solves your question?

A fixed air conditioner with heating mode is technically an air-to-air heat pump: it moves heat between indoor and outdoor air. That mainly cools or heats the room where the indoor unit sits.

If you want to replace your boiler and include hot tap water, an air-to-water heat pump fits better. If you mainly want an attic, bedroom or home office comfortable, air conditioning is often the smarter choice.

An air conditioner works best when capacity, placement and noise are right. These tips keep you on track

Which room

Start with the room that feels too hot or too cold first. One indoor unit per room is the usual route.

Capacity

Too small never catches up; too large short-cycles. We size to your room, not a catalogue maximum.

Noise

Outdoor units at homes have noise limits at the property boundary. We check a spot that works for you and the neighbours.

Single or multi-split

One room: single-split. Two or more: multi-split or separate systems. We put the pros and cons side by side.

Power

Cooling uses electricity. With panels or a battery you can offset some of that. We factor in what that means for you.

No ISDE

Air conditioning does not qualify for the Dutch ISDE heat-pump subsidy. We say that upfront so your quote has no surprises.

Combining

Many people keep the boiler or heat pump for the whole home, and use air conditioning for the room that needs comfort most.

Heat pump

Home battery

The sun does not only shine when you need power. With a battery you store today's energy for tomorrow morning's coffee. Or you use stored power on cloudy days and in the evening.

Solar panels

Solar panels increase the value of your home, including through a better energy label. They are not just a smart investment for later, but something you can enjoy today.

Heat pump

A heat pump draws warmth from the outside air and uses far less gas than a boiler. Your home stays comfortable, summer and winter, while you save on your energy bill.

More about heat pumps↗

EV charger

Home charging is the easiest option: leave every morning with a full battery. Pair your charger with solar panels and charge on your own power.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, in practice it is: a fixed air conditioner with heating mode is technically an air-to-air heat pump. It moves heat between indoor and outdoor air.

Only if every room gets an indoor unit, and even then hot tap water still needs a separate solution. To take a whole home off gas, an air-to-water heat pump usually fits better.

No. Air conditioning falls outside the Dutch ISDE for heat pumps. We mention that upfront in the advice so you know where you stand.

Outdoor units at homes have noise limits at the property boundary and at neighbours' windows or doors. We choose placement with that in mind and check it upfront.

Our quote is all-inclusive: unit and installation. The price depends on capacity, number of indoor units and the install. Request a tailored price with no obligation.
